My entrepreneurial spirit began at the age of 8, when I opened my first business, Maggie Bank, named after my childhood dog. I ironed my brother's shirts for $0.25 a piece, and pounded the pavement of my neighborhood passing out construction paper business cards, complete with a marker drawn logo. Unfortunately, Maggie Bank closed after just a short time in business, but the dream of someday being my own boss remained alive and well.
I moved to New York City to study dance and musical theatre at the age of 19, and spent several years working as a freelance choreographer, Pilates instructor, and professional deliverer of salad and breadsticks at the Olive Garden, before picking up my first camera in 2007. What started out as a hobby quickly became a full-time career, and now Alyson Edie Photography is in it's 8th year of business.
My work has been published by Dance Magazine and Senior Style Guide Magazine, and featured online at Seniorologie, Modern Senior, and Lemonade and Lenses. In 2014 I was honored to be named one of the top 100 senior photographers in the nation by Senior Style Guide, and in 2015 I was the first place winner in the senior category of the Lemonade and Lenses International Image Competition. In addition to my senior portrait business in Nebraska, I also frequently travel to New York City, where I work with professional dancers and actors, and high school seniors from across the nation. When I'm not out on photo shoots or editing in front of my computer, I enjoy cooking, reading, shopping, drinking coffee, going out to eat, watching Netflix, and hanging out with my dog, Chloe.
